Celebrate St Patrick's Day in the city

It's that time of year again, the day you don your best green outfits and celebrate in style. So, raid your wardrobe, put on that ‘kiss me I’m Irish’ pin and head into the heart of the city for some great craic and plenty of ways to celebrate St Patrick's Day!

The Greening of Sky Tower

The Sky Tower lights up in green on 17 March 2026 to celebrate St Patrick’s Day, continuing a long-standing tradition that has become part of Auckland’s skyline each March.

For 17 years, the Sky Tower has joined landmarks around the world in “go green” for St Patrick’s Day, making it one of the longest-running landmarks in the world to illuminate.

The annual lighting is part of a global celebration of Irish culture and heritage, recognised in cities across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Pacific.
